Wanted to address the bed drop of my 2023 Tacoma with a Retrax cover, Yakima Overland HD rack, two kayaks and a lightweight trailer. Using SUMO bumpers, frames was riding those alone, ride was bouncy. Eric suggested the add-a-leaf, which was an easy install. Frame sits 1" above bumpers now, even w/full load. Just drove 2800 miles, the ride was smooth and controlled. Without the boats/trailer, back is about 1" higher than front. Ride is firm, but IMO not harsh. Great upgrade for sure.
The fit and finish of this part is incredible. What I was most surprised by, however, was its completeness. I'm using my stock springs for the time being which required spacers to work with this hanger. I was planning to source my own when I went to get new spring eye bolts. This kit came with both the spacers AND the bolts. The hardest part is definitely getting the old hanger rivets out. I used a plasma cutter to cut the hanger and brackets away until I could get a grinder in to cut off the heads. I didn't have any success with drilling them and using an air hammer to chisel the heads off. My rivets were getting loose so this upgrade was on my radar. Unfortunately, my truck recently found its way into a K-rail and bent one of the old hangers enough to throw off the steering geometry so this upgrade moved up on the punch list. Very happy with my purchase.
My build started in the front with everything Total Chaos makes for the 1st gen Tundra paired with fox 2.5 coilover shocks from AccuTune. This kit is an amazing addition matching the rear suspension to my front build. Got MD spring pack and fox 2.5 piggybacks from Accutune, couldn't be any better. Kit is very complete and directions are easy to follow. Took two experienced armatures two days to complete but we're slow and steady. Eric knows these trucks and has built the best setup out there. Thank you for bringing new life to my 20 year old truck.
I installed Hammer Hangers on my 2021 Tacoma Double Cab Longbed 4x4 V6. I use my truck for work—mostly moving lumber and tools—but don’t off-road. I have a DECKED drawer system in the bed, which holds my tools, ratchet straps, and floor jack.
Before the Hangers, I had a mild lift: Bilstein 6112s in front with JBA UCAs, Bilstein 5160s in the rear with ICON RXT Stage 2 leaf springs, plus new bump stops and a U-bolt flip kit. The lift improved aesthetics and road feel, but the rear still jiggled heavily.
After multiple jobs maxing out the rear suspension—hauling 25 sheets of 3/4" MDF UL in a single trip—I researched ways to beef up the rear. I considered airbags but discovered Hammer Hangers thanks to the forum. After speaking with Eric and having all my questions patiently answered, I decided to go for it.
Installation was intense but manageable over a weekend. The air hammer made quick work of the top rivets, and the drill bits Archive Garage provides made the bottom rivets fast—about 30 minutes per side. I installed the hangers in the recommended position with my factory shackles and ICON RXT leaf springs, skipping the optional Archive Garage shackles/crossbar since I don’t off-road.
The difference is immediate and dramatic. The truck feels planted, and the ass-end jiggle is almost nonexistent. As a result, it feels more confident and capable, almost like it has independent suspension. I haven’t driven the truck under a heavy load yet, but I fully expect it to perform exceptionally.
I’ve honestly never been this pleased with a modification. If you own a 3rd gen Tacoma, this is one of those upgrades you should do right after ditching the factory tune. The install is intense, but it’s absolutely worth it.
Hammer Hangers are phenomenal. They completely transform the rear suspension, and I couldn’t be happier.
After exhausting research I was still unsure which way to go for my needs. Better ride with minimal lift. 2015 dcsb 4x4 taco with shell and constant 300lbs in bed, totally stock. Occasionally pull a boat. I’ve tried air bags ,even with minimum psi truck rode terrible, removed and went to soft sumo springs ,better but oem springs are so flat left 0 travel so I cut off about 1 inch of sumos, better but only left 1/4 inch of down travel before contacting sumo which was better but still bad on even small bumps. Had quite the bro lean. I messaged Eric with my needs he said traveller add a leaf was the answer. I had doubts , even ordered icon add a leaf, then decided that Eric seems like a dude who really does the R&D before putting his product out( Watch his videos) Couldn’t be happier right now . I got the exact measurements he said I would. I now have about 1.75 inches between frame and chopped sumo. I could easily cut another inch off sumo to make it ride even better but if I ever get to tow my boat again I will need the extra support to keep springs from getting even worse. Ride is so much better .
Thanks Eric
Fast shipping awesome rep
I am sure you make a great product, but I overlooked when I bought your products that you do not have a return policy. I no longer have a need for the Hammer Hangers because I decided to upgrade to a larger truck in the future to increase my payload capability and I do not do any off-roading. I would just like to keep the Add a leaf pack that I ordered. I have not used the Hammer Hangers. They are still in the original packaging. I wish That I could return them. I would of course pay for the shipping and a restocking fee for your trouble. Thank you.
I had ordered the front leaf springs brackets for my 1992 Dodge w250, but realized I also needed bushings for the spring eyes which I had chosen to replace. Eric went out of his way to get them mailed expeditiously. That was much appreciated. As for the quality of the brackets, they are top notch. I couldn't be happier.
I've purchased a couple things, so I'm reviewing the business as a whole:
Very impressed with the quality of the product AG makes and even more impressed with their customer service! Quick shipping, quick answers to questions and a great product!
Very Nice hangers
Everything arrived on time or even ahead of schedule. The hangers are super beefy and the coatings on them are just as beefy! Can't wait to get them installed here in the next few weeks
Weird that everything came in separate boxes on separate days. However, the packaging was phenomenal and the products look intensely stellar. And talk about pure beef. Beefaroni. Where's the beef? It's at archive garage. That's where. These things are super stout and heft. Our plans got derailed but I am very excited to get them installed in the coming weeks
Hard install good products
I can’t say enough about Archive Garage. Great customer service and Eric is always willing to help and answer questions. I installed the rear 64” Chevy spring on the rear of my 1974 power wagon and it was a game changer in the ride. I will be adding the front springs soon now
